Taylor vs Volante - Photos by Melina Pizano/Matchroom Boxing - 03/15/19

I was so excited to finally photograph Katie Taylor. Back in October there were rumors she was going to be on the Chicago card (which I attended), but she ended up being on a different card later that December (that I didn't get to attend.) Taylor is so humble and her dedication to the sport is on another level. Grateful to Ed and the Matchroom team for the opportunity!

(Side note: During the first round I changed my exposure to photograph Taylor's mom in the crowd. I totally forgot to switch the exposure back when I went to photograph action. It just happened to be when Taylor dropped Volante. The photo was overexposed to the point it looked better in black and white than in color (as much as I hate to do that to one photo out of the whole set.) It felt like a rookie mistake not to switch the exposure back, but I took a little comfort in hearing that it happened to a fellow photog too before. I'm sure we haven't been the only ones and won't be the last, but it's definitely lessons like these I keep in mind.
