Andrade vs Keeler - Photos by Melina Pizano/Matchroom Boxing - 01/30/20

Some highlights from Miami Fight Night. Part of having the opportunity to be creative on fight night often means working hard physically. I'm continuously running between backstage, where boxers prepare for their bout, to my photo editor that is ringside (as they edit fight photos too.) As it grew closer to the main event I started to lookout for boxers and celebrities in attendance. Some were ringside and some were in a VIP area that took over most of the second floor. As I was searching the VIP area I heard the roar of the crowd and ran to the balcony. Jake Paul had won his bout by TKO in the first round.
Fortunately I had my longer lens and was able to capture a photo of him as he stood victoriously on the ropes. I ran down to drop my card off to my photo editor then headed up to the third floor for the main event and first round. As I was taking a wide shot so I could capture the audience and ring, Andrade dropped Keeler. I zoomed in and captured Keeler still on the ring mat. As soon as the round ended I raced downstairs to hand the card to my editor and went ringside (opposite of our other photographer, Ed Mulholland) for the rest of the bout. Doing so gives us the opportunity to catch something one of us may miss or even just a different angle of the action or moment happening in the ring. I'm always a sweaty mess by the end of an event, but it's a thrilling rush that I wouldn't trade in because I love what I do.
