Estrada vs Beamon Weigh-In - Photos by Melina Pizano/Matchroom Boxing - 08/23/19

Ed and I hadn't planned on a remote for this weigh-in, nor was there really a place to hang one from. I roamed around to try to find a different angle. I couldn't get a good shot from the side because the stage was packed and the Tecate girls were on each side of the scale. I shot the crowd from the front then changed it up once more. I grabbed my Pocket Wizards and put my camera on top of my monopod. I pre-focused my lens and switched it to manual to lock it. 
Fortunately I'm 5'10" so between my height and the monopod I was able to reach over the platform and take a few test shots. I figured out an angle that worked and then hoped for the best once the main event boxers came onto the stage. Since I couldn't see anything I only knew to start shooting by the excitement of the fans and the photographers flashes bouncing off of the ceiling. Below you'll see Beamon's weigh-in and two photos of Estrada's weigh-in. The last one was used by Matchroom Boxing (and even other photographers posted the photo too.) Unfortunately their face-off was covered by the Mexican flag (not shown below.) The Mexican fans showed up to show their love for their hometown boxer that day.
