ESPN Images: Loma vs Crolla Weigh-In - Photos by Melina Pizano/ESPN Images - 04/11/19

Funny story... I received a text message one early a.m. from the lead photographer of Matchroom Boxing, Ed Mulholland, stating they didn't need a second photographer (which I normally am) or an assistant for the April 12th bout between Vasyl Lomachenko and Anthony Crolla and that I should check my e-mail for more details. He continued, "sorry to 'fire' you from April 12th via text didn't want to call you too early *smiley face emoji*." So I check my e-mail to find a note from Bob Flanagan, of ESPN Images, saying he heard about Ed "firing" me and would like to know if I'm available to photograph the April 12th bout. Hahaha! Quite the gotcha moment. After a good laugh and speaking with Ed and Bob, I immediately called my parents and siblings to let them know I'd be working for ESPN Images. This moment was a dream come true. Before I even started checking out photography schools I made a goal to work for ESPN someday. Thank you to Ed and Bob for the opportunity! I'm forever grateful.
