Santa Cruz vs Rivera Official Weigh-In - Photos by Melina Pizano - 02/16/19

Oh boy. Let's start with the obvious: lighting. The photos were taken at the Conga Room, which is primarily a dance club. The main source of light used appears to be the club lights, which would explain the inconsistency in direct light as well as the continuous change of light temperature. I'll note that my camera was set to Kelvin, not automatic. Also every photographer/videographer at the event appeared to have this issue. In this case my best bet was trying to correct it as best as possible in Photoshop. Sometimes there's only so much you can do, especially on deadline. On social media I converted some of these photos to black and white because I literally could not stand looking at the inconsistencies. I've used this blog as somewhat of a journal to document findings and to also share them with anyone following this blog. With that said, I left all the photos in color.

As a quick side note I just want to add: when shooting always arrive to the venue early. I'm so glad my college instructors drilled that into me. I got to the venue 45 minutes before the actual weigh-in. Five minutes later, public relations was kindly asking for volunteers to leave because they were at capacity and couldn't even let in officials. Fortunately they were able to resolve the capacity issues, but I can't imagine how nervous certain media outlets were feeling not being to initially get in.
