Behind the Scenes: Linares vs Campbell - Photos by Melina Pizano - 09/23/17

I knew before arriving to the venue that I would be shadowing Ed Mulholland (HBO Boxing) in both Linares' and Campbell's dressing rooms. What I didn't expect to see was how different the atmospheres in each were. Campbell's was cool and calm. Linares' was relaxed, but slightly upbeat with some laughs and Latin music playing in the background. It was in Linares' dressing room that I found a moment that I'd love to share.

Appreciation note: I'm grateful beyond words can express to Ed for more recently mentoring me on the in and outs of boxing photography.

Trainer Ismael Salas uses his mouth to aid him while wrapping Jorge Linares' hands before Linares' bout with Luke Campbell.

Salas smiles as he wraps Linares' hand.

While wrapping Linares' hand, someone in the room asks Salas why he is smiling. To which Salas replies, "because I love what I do."

After wrapping his hand, Salas asks Linares, "How does it fit? Is it too tight?" Linares smiles and says, "It's perfect."
