Lomachenko vs Walters Undercard - Photos by Melina Pizano - 11/26/16

Before moving away for college I used to watch boxing with family and friends. I remember one night specifically. I was sitting on my brother's living room floor and during a bout I happened to notice a photographer at the bottom of the screen. That was the moment I decided to combine and purse two things that I love, photography and sports.

This past Saturday I was given the opportunity to photograph two undercards. As soon as the boxer entrance music came on a wave of excitement hit me. I kept focused capturing action and moments. Both bouts resulted in second round TKOs. That night I stayed up until 3 a.m. editing the photos so I could share them with family and friends. The same family and friends who watched boxing matches with me and supported my dream of becoming a sports photographer. I'm beyond grateful to Ed Mullholland, the HBO boxing photographer who gave me this opportunity to photograph these bouts. My heart is happy.

All photos taken at The Chelsea, Las Vegas, on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2017.
